Hello there ... I've recently moved to the DC area and I'm looking to buy a place in the district. I've stumbled along a few gorgeous Victorian row houses in the Eckington/Bloomingdale neighborhood. I understand this area is in transition (as are all DC neighborhoods) but how safe is this area? I looked at the crime statistics and noticed that robberies with guns was up, but is there any information regarding what time of day these thigs are happening? I want to be able to walk to the metro without worrying about getting mugged ... any insight?
